The water treatment authority (SIPEP) of Thymerais in north-western France had to deal with major quality issues, in particular concerning nitrates at water catchment positions. Therfore the SIPEP decided to drill outside of its territory to capture water that meets the nitrate standards and to use it for dilution. The corresponding works comprised boring works and the implementation of 12,800 linear meters of iron pipe.
