Geotechnics

Our activity covers geotechnical engineering for all types of structures (engineering structures, underground works, linear structures, buildings, port facilities, etc.), as well as natural risk issues (landslides, cavities, seismic risk, etc.).

Geotechnical engineering is constantly evolving ; analysis tools and construction processes are progressing to respond to projects integrated into an increasingly constraining environment, with two main concerns : to guarantee the stability of structures, of course, but also to optimise projects.

For almost 40 years, setec has been offering specific expertise in this field, recognised both in France and internationally, and has emblematic references for all types of geotechnical works. We are also actively involved within the scientific community: academic institutions, working groups and research projects, teaching, conferences, etc.

We provide engineering services in sectors such as:

  • Transport, port and river infrastructure, construction, nuclear power, renewable energies (wind power, photovoltaics, etc.), etc.
  • All types of geotechnical works: foundations (shallow, deep, mixed, rigid inclusions), tunnels and underground structures, earthworks, retaining walls, soil reinforcement, natural risks (landslides, seismic risk, soil liquefaction, cavities, etc.), pavements, geothermal foundations, etc.
  • At all stages of projects: feasibility studies, supervision of surveys, design, execution studies, works supervision, expert assessments, etc.
  • By applying the “Engineers & Citizens” approach (taking into account, in particular, the carbon assessment of the geotechnical solutions proposed).

We also develop and market our own geotechnical calculation software (Talren, Foxta, K-réa, Slake, Scage, Straticad) as well as a collaborative web platform: Orbow. We distribute Plaxis software (Bentley).

Finally, we have Qualiopi certification, and provide training in the design of geotechnical structures (a number of inter- and intra-company training courses every year, in France and abroad).
